Redesign from the ground up for a multi-platform eCommerce website

Techmate, a laboratory equipment eCommerce business, supplier of large pharmaceutical companies, medical researchers to local authority establishments, approached TFA as they were seeking a new website. Their current site failed to deliver on multiple accounts, from outdated styling, a long and confusing user journey and their multi-system website (from stock to purchasing) not working efficiently together. 

The first step for our design and development teams was an audit of their current site, reviewing what worked and what needed improvement, including design aesthetic and a review of user journeys. We created a technical document that set out clear deliverables and functionality, proposing new database and checkout systems.

From here, our design team created UX wireframes to block out proposed designs, along with styling examples, then proceeded to design all areas of the site to act as templates in the development stage. Using fresh light imagery of medical equipment alongside pops of orange Techmate’s new website design engages as you enter.

Clean and modern site design

Design agreed, next stage lay with our expert development team, well versed in integrating multiple platforms and systems to work seamlessly together. WordPress was utilised for the shop window as an easy to use content management system, plugging in WooCommerce for the shoppable area.. WooCommerce is open source and not restricted by functionality, working seamlessly with WordPress websites. An advantage of our website developers using WooCommerce is the SEO friendly functionality and analytics plugins for SEO monitoring. Accounting and stock management use their preexisting third party database; Pegasus Opera.
